G-Shock releases mini versions of two best-selling blackout watches: GMA-P2100BB-1A & GMD-S5610BB-1

G-Shock GMA-P2100BB-1A and GMD-S5610BB-1: Mini Basic Black Blackout CasiOak and Square

New in Japan for July, the analog-digital G-Shock GMA-P2100BB-1A and GMD-S5610BB-1 are smaller versions of the best-selling GA-2100-1A1 and DW-5600BB-1 featuring a minimalist blackout colorway with an inverted LCD display. The GA-2100-1A1 essentially kicked off the “CasiOak” era in 2019, and the DW-5600BB-1 is consistently one of the best-selling DW-5600 “Square” models around the world.

Both the GMA-P2100BB-1A and GMD-S5610BB-1 models have a compatible band size of 145 to 190 millimeters (or about 5.7 inches to 7.5 inches), according to Casio. While the lower end of this (145) is the same as the full-size GA-2100 and DW-5600, the high end tops out at 215 mm (~8.5 inches) for the GA-2100 and 205 mm (~8.1 inches) for the DW-5600, according to recently released models. Although one could wear the full-size versions, the smaller case sizes of the GMA-P2100BB-1A and GMD-S5610BB-1 make them suitable for smaller wrists where the full-size versions may appear overly large. They are also suitable for those who simply prefer smaller and lighter watches. Both watches are battery-powered models with an approximate battery life of three years each.

We’re not sure exactly what classifies the GMD-S5610BB-1 as a “GMD-S5610” (versus “GMD-S5600”) model. Both series use the same module, but previous GMD-S5600 models have a compatible band size of 145 to 200 mm and a weight of 41 grams.
