G-Shock featured at Conde Nast Traveler

You wouldn’t expect to see a Casio G-Shock watch (much less a classic 5000 model) featured on the upscale Conde Nast Traveler website, but the “Time and Place” watch of the week feature is written by Mark Hranek, author of the book “A Man and His Watch” which features several chapters on G-Shock. The article focuses on the author’s G-Shock DW-5030C-1 30th Anniversary watch (listed as a “Casio G-Shock 5000”) at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como, Italy. Hranek writes, “Most watch lovers admit to having at least one of these in their collection (I have a few!) and I find them to be as handsome as just about any Swiss watch I own. The retail price of just over $100 gives you a lot of watch for your money, and they really are indestructible.”

The limited edition DW-5030C-1 from 2013 is sold out at list price, but this year’s DW-5035D-1B 35th Anniversary model is still available at many stores.
