G-Shock Japan just released these photos of the upcoming Johnny Cupcakes x G-Shock GD-X6900JC-3 collaboration watch. Johnny Cupcakes is a clothing brand known for its humorous t-shirts and skull and crossbones logo featuring a cupcake instead of a skull. The GD-X6900JC-3 has a retro-like aqua or seafoam green color with white lettering, a white face, and a standard LCD display. The bands have a printed sprinkle topping pattern (of pink, white, and blue sprinkles) and there is a pink Johnny Cupcakes logo on the face. The G on the backlight button and the band keeper are pink. The case back has an engraved Johnny Cupcakes logo and the backlight has a dripping frosting graphic. Also included is a custom Johnny Cupcakes tin and box. The watch is based on the fashionable large-size GD-X6900 model featuring a 10-year battery.
The Johnny Cupcakes G-Shock watch will have a November release with a retail price of 15,500 yen. Casio USA has announced the GDX6900JC-3 for a U.S. November release for $140 and and Japan will be getting the GD-X6900JC-3JR. The watch will be available to purchase at the Johnny Cupcakes website, Johnny Cupcakes retail stores, and select retailers.
Update: Johnny Cupcakes has announced that the GDX6900JC-3 will go on sale Friday November 13 at select G-Shock retailers and the Johnny Cupcakes website. There will also be a NYC launch event at the G-Shock Soho Store at 454 W. Broadway from Friday November 13 to Sunday November 15, featuring a Johnny Cupcakes pop up shop, an appearance by Johnny on November 13 between 4pm and 7pm, and an exclusive shirt.
