G-Shock GX56TU-1A5 is selling out at U.S. retailers

The large and extra-rugged G-Shock GX56TU-1A5, which is the only active GX-56 model with a positive (or non-inverted) LCD display, sold out online fairly quickly at Casio U.S. and Arizona Fine Time (and possibly Zumiez). Some other U.S. dealers haven’t started selling the GX56TU-1A5 yet or the other watches from the Two Tone Utility Color Series, so you may want to keep an eye on your preferred dealer and act quickly if you’re interested. The watch is still available from two sellers at Amazon (Watch Trendz and Beach Cities Watch Co.), which are both authorized sellers according to casio.com. Update: The GX56TU-1A5 was back in stock at casio.com/us but sold out again. Arizona Fine Time has the GX56TU-1A5 back in stock again. It looks like the GX56TU-1A5 isn’t going to sell out very quickly, but it may sell out at some point.

The DW6900TU-1A5 also sold out at Arizona Fine Time. This model is notable for being one of the only updated DW-6900 models (with LED light and 5-year battery life) in a conventional utility-style colorway to have a positive LCD. (The DW-6900U-1 and DW-6900UB-9 were not officially released in the U.S., but Amazon recently started selling the DW-6900U-1 under its DW6900-1V listing.) The DW6900TU-1A5 is likely to appeal to military and outdoor types, which make up a large portion of the U.S. customer base.

If we had to guess what the third most popular model in the series is, we would pick the GA710TU-1A3 with a front light button and 5-year battery life, as the large GA-700 series is popular in the U.S., and there aren’t many other GA-700 models with a positive display.

Update: The GA710TU-1A3 also ended up selling out at Arizona Fine Time.

Some other recent U.S. releases have been selling out somewhat quickly and unexpectedly. You can never be certain of how many units are shipped to Casio America, and it could vary by model.
