Doge-Shock: G-Shock Shibu Inu Series with DW-5600SHB-1, DW-6900SHB-7, GA-100SHB-5A

The latest limited edition G-Shock series based on Japanese culture includes three models inspired by the Shiba Inu hunting dog of Japan, which has a worldwide cult following due its appearance in “doge” memes in the 2010s. The three watches are based on the different colors of the breed and include the black DW-5600SHB-1, white DW-6900SHB-7, and brown GA-100SHB-5A. The dual-molded resin bands have an off-white underside to symbolize the belly of the dog. A Shiba Inu image appears on the faces of the watches and as the speed hand on the GA-100SHB-5A. Dog images also appear on the band keepers and stainless steel case backs. The LED backlights of the DW-5600SHB-1 and DW-6900SHB-7 display a Shiba Inu face in red.

These models are made in Japan and include exclusive eco-friendly packaging featuring a Shiba Inu art pattern. The watches will reportedly be released in September in Japan with the following tax-included prices: DW-5600SHB-1JR (17,600 yen), DW-6900SHB-7JR (17,600 yen), GA-100SHB-5AJR (22,000 yen). Cultural series like this are usually released throughout Asia, but recently not always in the West.

Update: The watches were released on September 27 in Japan. All three models are confirmed to be made in Japan. The series was also released throughout Asia in October.

Update 2: The DW5600SHB-1 ($130), DW6900SHB-7 ($130), and GA100SHB-5A ($140) are expected to be released in the United States in November 2024.
