Casio U.S. reveals the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary ‘Zero To One’ limited series and releases the Casiotron TRN50ZE-1A

Although the announcement for the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary “Zero To One” limited edition series seems to have been delayed in Japan due to a recent cyberattack, G-Shock Hong Kong announced the series including five watches (and excluding the Oceanus OCW-SG1000ZE-1A) yesterday at instagram.com and opened registration for lottery sales until October 16. Casio America (U.S.) announced the release of the Casiotron TRN50ZE-1A from that series today, which is available to purchase for $600.

One of the product images shows the full anniversary series (which like Hong Kong includes five models), also including the Baby-G BGD-S565ZE-1, G-Shock GMC-B2100ZE-1A, Edifice EFS-S640ZE-1A, and Pro Trek PRW-6900ZE-1, so these models are also expected to be released in the U.S. soon. One of the images features the TRN50ZE-1A alongside the highly anticipated G-Shock GMCB2100ZE1A (below), which has an expected price of $930. The Oceanus OCW-SG1000ZE-1A also appears in a 50th Anniversary image near the bottom with the TRN50ZE-1A and GMCB2100ZE1A, and it’s possible that it will be released in the U.S. like the OCW-S7000SS-2A was.

The made-in-Japan Casiotron TRN50ZE-1A is a full stainless steel watch modeled after the first Casio wristwatch from 1974. The watch has a black and gold ion-plated color scheme and modern features such as Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 automatic radio time adjustment, and Bluetooth smartphone link. The LCD display is the inverted type with a dark background, and this is reportedly the first-ever Casiotron watch with an inverted display. The watch has a special 50th Anniversary case back featuring a “Zero To One” theme along with a commemorative gold band link. The packaging is made from environmentally-friendly material and includes a cotton pouch.

The Casiotron TRN-50 series was launched for the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary in 2024, beginning with the TRN-50-2A and followed by the TRN-50SS-2A, both of which were also limited editions. The TRN-50 is based on the Casiotron QW02, which was the first digital wristwatch with an automatic calendar. The TRN-50ZE-1A is expected to be the last TRN-50 release of the year, and it’s not known if Casio will continue to release any more TRN-50 models as the 50th Anniversary celebration comes to a close soon.
