Limited G-Shock MTG-B2000 watches have been quite popular during recent years despite their relatively high prices, and the latest MTG-B2000YST-1A Storm Chaser Edition was unveiled by G-Shock U.K. and listed as coming soon. This model is a fine example of how the MTG-B2000 provides an excellent base for unique color combinations and finishes with a variety of exterior materials that combine to form a tough yet elegant watch.
The stainless steel front bezel piece has a rainbow ion plating with a blue upper section and silver lower section. The two stainless steel band pieces connecting the resin band are also blue and silver to match the bezel. The lightweight bezel frame is made of carbon and glass fiber layers of different colors, including a phosphorescent layer that produces a lightning-inspired glow-in-the-dark line on the sides of the watch. The black resin band is mix-molded with white to give the impression of storm clouds.
Major features of the MTG-B2000YST-1A include Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment, Bluetooth smartphone link, Triple G Resist (protection from shock, centrifugal force, and vibration), 200-meter water resistance, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, dual time with 27 time zones and auto summer time setting, 1-second stopwatch, countdown timer (1 minute to 24 hours), daily alarm, full auto calendar with day and date display, LED light, and the hand shift function (to clear the main hands away from the subdials). The watch measures 55.1 x 49.8 x 15.9 millimeters and weighs 104 grams, with a compatible band size of 145 to 215 millimeters.
The MTG-B2000YST-1AER will have a price of £1,299 in the U.K., with release details in other countries to be announced. The expected U.S. price is $1,450.
Update: G-Shock U.S. released the MTGB2000YST1 in late November 2024 for $1,450.
