California-based streetwear and lifestyle retailer Bait, which was previously responsible for the manga-based Initial D collaboration, is releasing another G-Shock DW5600 watch with the theme of “Innovation,” paying tribute to the early personal computer era. The watch is clearly inspired by Apple computers and marketing from the 1980s. The decade, in which G-Shock was first released in 1983, also saw the release of the Apple IIe computer in 1983 and the first Macintosh in 1984. The white DW5600 watch has a gray upper band with a clear band keeper. The unique and mostly dark face has glow-in-the-dark graphics (according to Bait) and an inverted green-tinted LCD display that resembles old “green screen” PC monitors. According to the case back which is engraved with the Bait logo, this DW-5600 model is made in Japan and has module 3229 with the EL backlight.
The watch will be available at ComplexCon 2024 (in the Travis Scott-created CactusCon section) in Las Vegas from November 16th and 17th for $150. It will also be released at U.S. Bait stores and online at baitme.com. Bait stores are located in California (5), Portland, Seattle, Denver, and Honolulu. (Baitme.com shipping is available to U.S. states, territories, and military addresses.) Bait also has websites and stores in Japan and Taiwan, but the watch was not announced in those areas yet.
