G-Shock DWE-5657RE-1 probably has a Carbon Core Guard case

This is a bit random and late, but I was recently looking into the G-Shock DWE-5657RE-1, which is a G-Shock 40th Anniversary limited edition including two bezels that was originally released in 2023. Although it’s a DWE-5600 model and such models are known to have a Carbon Core Guard inner case, it was not listed or mentioned as having a Carbon Core Guard case by Casio, and there is no Carbon Core Guard logo or label on the watch. However, some YouTube videos that reveal the case appear to show that it does have a carbon fiber reinforced case, as the case seems to have the distinctive uneven tones and texture of a Carbon Core Guard case.

Other than the various 40th Anniversary adornments like the historical model timeline imprinted on the band and the more durable gold ion-plated stainless steel band keeper, there are several reasons why the DWE-5657RE-1 might be a good purchase today. Although it’s mostly sold out at official dealers, it can still be found on Ebay with reasonable prices of around $122-$135. Unlike most of the previous DWE-5600 releases, it has the more power-efficient LED backlight with an approximate 5-year battery life. The blackout style with a non-inverted LCD display is very unique, and the DW-5600BCE-1 with a Cordura Eco fabric band is the one of the only other options for that when it comes to 5000 series watches. (The DWE-5657RE-1 has a more minimalistic face with only the Casio logo and no button labels.) Although the included 5700-style bezel may not be much of an enticement, the DWE-5657RE-1 can serve as a unique tool watch which may be preferable over DW-5600 models.
