The Shibu Hachi Box, located near the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, is now supported by G-Shock and houses an extra-large digital clock in the style of the original DW-5000C-1A watch from 1983, which also includes a modeling of the stainless steel case and screw-back on the backside. The clock can be seen from the street through the glass walls. Inside the Box, a sign next to the clock says do not touch but that photos are allowed.
Located next to the famous Hachiko Memorial Statue that serves as a popular meeting place, the Shibu Hachi Box is a tourist information facility that replaced the Aogaeru train car in 2020. It has been supported by G-Shock since November 15, 2024, and also serves as a display space for street and graffiti artist Kami. Limited stickers featuring a DW-5000 with Hachiko design and a reproduction of Kami’s artwork are being distributed.
G-Shock’s support of the Box coincides with the final months of the Casio Watch 50th Anniversary and the release of the G-Shock DW-5000R-1A in December, which is a modernized reproduction of the DW-5000C-1A. Other brands have supported the Shibu Hachi Box in the past, and it’s not known how long the G-Shock partnership will run for.
