G-Shock DW-6900TR for series anniversary is inspired by DW-6900H ‘Thrasher’ Series from 1995

G-Shock U.K. unveiled the upcoming DW-6900TR series, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the iconic DW-6900 line. Also known as the “Triple Graph,” the DW-6900 evolved from 1994’s DW-6600 and inherited its case and “Fox Fire” EL backlight. The series became a staple in streetwear culture and garnered many fans in the worlds of sports and music, due in part to the many collaborative releases with fashion and lifestyle brands that continue to this day. The DW-6900 is also a popular series in the military, with evidence of Navy divers continuing to use it in the 2020s.

The DW-6900TR series is inspired by the skateboarding-themed DW-6900H “Thrasher” series from 1995, which was the first color series for the 6900 line beyond the two base models. The DW-6900H models had spider and skull graphics printed on the bands, along with the phrase “G-SHOCK is dedicated to the soul foot in motion.” The new DW-6900TR series lacks these adornments. According to Sjors at 50-gs.blogspot.com, the DW-6900H series was not a collaboration, and the “Soul Foot” is a synonym for “Thrasher.” He also noted that the DW-6900H series, with its focus on skateboarding, might be considered a precursor to the sports-oriented X-TREME line, now known as G-LIDE.

The new models include the black DW-6900TR-1, red DW-6900TR-4, and yellow DW-6900TR-9. Commemorative elements include a metal front light button, a backlight that displays “SINCE 1995,” and a special case back engraved with thirty stars. Like the DW-6900H, each model has a black resin band keeper, but it appears that they all have silver buckles instead of black. The watches are equipped with the updated module 3529 with an LED light and approximate five-year battery life. In keeping with Casio’s commitment to the environment, these models are made with bio-based resin and come in eco-friendly packaging.

Each watch will have a price of £99.90 in the U.K., and a worldwide release is expected soon.
