Astronaut Kimiya Yui of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-11 wears G-Shock watches

Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will be part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-11 mission to the International Space Station, joining American and Russian astronauts in a scheduled July launch expected to last around six months. According to NASA, the mission will involve scientific investigations and technology demonstrations to help prepare for future missions to the Moon and to benefit people on Earth.

The 55 year-old former Japanese Air Self-Defense Force pilot previously spent 142 days on the ISS in 2015, during which time he wore a G-Shock watch. Yui was also spotted wearing a G-Shock DW-9052 watch in a recent photo with Crew-11 members. It’s not known if Yui will wear a G-Shock watch during his upcoming mission, as he is also known to wear other brands. Fellow JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi, who also sometimes wears G-Shock watches (see japannews.yomiuri.co.jp), is currently on the ISS as part of the Crew-10 mission.
