Affordable Casio AQ-S820W watches offer large analog-digital style with Tough Solar power

The upcoming Casio AQ-S820W is expected to be a popular series, as it offers a large and rugged analog-digital style with Tough Solar power and 100-meter water resistance at a very affordable price. (These days, Tough Solar means being fully powered by light and having a power saving function that disables the display when the watch is left unused in the dark.) The Casio U.K. site has the AQ-S820W-1AVEF (black) and AQ-S820W-3BVEF (green with black bezel and inverted LCD display) listed as coming soon for £54.90. Both models (AQS820W-1AV and AQS820W-3BV) are also showing up in Google search results at the U.S. Coast Guard Exchange website but with no prices listed. There is also reportedly a third model, AQ-S820-5A (brown with black bezel), but its status as a U.K. or U.S. release is unknown. In the U.K., the AQ-S810W-1A2VEF from the previous generation is also £54.90, and the AQS810W-1AV is $55.95 in the U.S., so we are expecting the AQS820W models to be $55.95 in the U.S., unless tariffs get in the way. The release date is unknown but expected to be soon.

According to the Casio U.K. listing (at casio.co.uk/casio.com) and include world time, 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, multi-language option for the day of week display, battery level indicator, and LED light. The U.K. site does not mention if the countdown timer includes dual interval timers with the option of repeating 1-10 times like the AQ-S810W. Also, Casio U.K. lists the countdown timer duration as 100 hours, but it should probably be 100 minutes or actually 99 minutes and 55 seconds as the maximum. We suggest checking the casio.com listing when available for more precise and accurate specifications. The module is 5745 according to the case back, but the instructions are not available yet.

For a similar but slightly smaller style with a pure analog three-handed display and three-year battery life, there is the Casio MW-620H series for $35.95 (casio.com). For a large analog-digital G-Shock watch with Tough Solar, there is the GAS-100 which measures 55.1 x 52.5 x 16.7 mm.
