Amazon is selling the G-Shock GW-8900A-1JF (plus GW-8900 versus G-8900)

Amazon.com is currently selling the G-Shock GW-8900A-1JF, which is unusual but not unprecedented because the GW-8900A-1JF is normally a Japan-only model. The GW-8900A-1JF is still active in Japan, along with the GW-8900-1JF in black and silver with positive LCD display. (The GW-8900-1JF is not sold by Amazon.com but is available on Amazon from Japan-based sellers.) Not to be confused with the recent G-8900S-1 which is expected to be released in the U.S. soon for $120, the GW-8900 series has Tough Solar power and Multi-Band 6 auto radio time adjustment unlike the G-8900, but the G-8900 also has some features that the GW-8900 lacks. (See below for a comparison.)
The price of the GW-8900A-1JF is a little higher than comparable G-Shock models on Amazon with Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6, but perhaps it’s a small premium to pay for a unique watch. The price is comparable to those from Japanese exporters and sellers on eBay and possibly lower when shipping charges are factored in.
The G-Shock GW-8900 is a large digital model with Tough Solar power and Multi-Band 6 automatic radio time correction. It is currently available in Japan only.
The G-Shock G-8900 is a large digital model featuring 4-city multi time, flash alerts, and an auto LED backlight. There is also a GW-8900 (in Japan) with Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6, but it does not have the 4-city multi time or flash alerts of the G-8900.
