Casio is launching the all-new retro and metallic-style digital ABL-100 (or technically the ABL-100WE) series featuring Bluetooth smartphone link and a step tracker. The style of the standard silver ABL-100WE-1A looks a lot like the best-selling Casio A168W-1, but the watch is a little larger and has a seven-link band. The Bluetooth functionality includes automatic time adjustment, watch settings, and step tracking life log data, when connected with the Casio Watches smartphone app. The watch display shows the daily step count and a graph shows the progress toward a daily step count goal.
The watch is water-resistant (with no depth rating), and other features include dual time, stopwatch, timer, alarm, low battery warning, full auto calendar, and LED backlight. The battery life is approximately two years with a CR2016 battery. The watch measures 41.6 x 37.9 x 8.2 millimeters and weighs 60 grams. This is longer and wider than the A168 but thinner, with the same thickness as the A158. Like the A168 and A158, the ABL-100 is expected to have a chrome-plated resin case with a stainless steel band.
In Japan, the ABL-100 series will launch in August 2024 with two models: the silver ABL-100WE-1AJF with a tax-included price of 11,000 yen and the gold ABL-100WEG-9AJF with a price of 13,750 yen. The series has not been announced in other countries yet. For an affordable and compact G-Shock with similar functionality (plus shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance), see the GD-B500.
Update: A leaked image from Zona Casio community member Jose shows that two more models will also be released outside of Japan (and probably in Europe): another silver model with an inverted LCD display and a black model with an inverted LCD display.
Update 2: Casio America released the silver ABL100WE-1AVT ($79.95) and gold ABL100WEG-9AVT ($99.95) in the U.S.
