Casio America releases MWA300H metal-covered full analog chronograph for under $70

Casio MWA-300H Chronograph Full Analog with Stainless Steel Bezel

Casio America released the Casio MWA300H chronograph series, which was previously released in Asia (MWA-300H) in December. The three debut watches have a full analog display with a large case, stainless steel bezel, and resin band. Although the dial looks similar in appearance to the upscale G-Shock GMC-B2100, this is more of a pure chronograph style, with the three subdials indicating the minutes, seconds, and 1/10-seconds in stopwatch mode. The stopwatch is activated with a single press of a button and measures up to 60 minutes with elapsed time, split time, and 1st-2nd place times. The time and date display are easily adjustable by using the crown like a traditional analog watch, but there is no automatic calendar that adjusts for each month.

The 100-meter water-resistant watch has resin glass, and the quartz accuracy is +/-20 seconds per month, which is better than the modules on affordable full digital Casio watches and closer to G-Shock accuracy (+/-15 seconds per month). One drawback for those accustomed to G-Shock watches is the lack of a light for viewing in the dark, although the hands do appear to have some sort of lume as seen in this Shorts video on youtube.com, but it is not listed as Neobrite. The stainless steel bezel has brushed and polished surfaces, and the video also shows that the polished sides are much more reflective than they appear in the catalog images. The watch measures 52.3 x 50.9 x 14.3 millimeters and weighs 50 grams. Battery life is approximately three years on a SR920SW battery.

The launch models include the black MWA300H-1AV, MWA300H-2AV with blue dial, and MWA300H-3AV with green dial and band, with a price of $69.95 each.

The similarly cased full analog MWA100H series ($42.95, casio.com) without chronograph or date does have an LED light and uses two batteries. The analog-digital MWQ100 ($55.95, casio.com) does not have a light but offers additional functions including world time and a 10-year battery life, but it only has two analog hands.
