Casio to release A158-inspired desk clock in Japan: DQD-851J-8JF

Casio DQD-851J-8JF Desk Clock

Casio is scheduled to release the DQD-851J-8JF desk clock on October 25 in Japan with a tax-included price of 4,378 yen, with pre-ordering now available.

The clock is styled after the popular and iconic Casio A158 digital wristwatch with the shape of the watch’s body and the retro appearance of its display. The clock has more advanced functions than the A158 watch (but lacks a stopwatch and hourly time signal), including Wave Ceptor automatic time adjustment (for Japan), a thermometer, and a hygrometer (for measuring humidity). Other functions include a snooze alarm with five levels of alarm sound, 12/24-hour format, full auto calendar, date and day display, and an amber LED light with afterglow. The clock measures 102 x 117 x 48 millimeters and weighs 185 grams. It uses two AA batteries with a battery life of about one year.

The radio receiver for the Wave Ceptor function is compatible only with the transmitters in Japan, so the Wave Ceptor function will not work in other countries with the radio time transmitters that work with Multi-Band 6 watches. The clock can be used in other countries with the Wave Ceptor function disabled, but some of the LCD display items are in Japanese and the clock is being released in Japan only.
