Costco is still selling the G-Shock Mudmaster GSG100-1A8 online and in stores

Costco is still selling the discontinued G-Shock Mudmaster GSG100-1A8 (listed as GSG100-1A8WC) online for $169.99. (Non-members must pay an additional 5% which comes out to $8.50.) It is also available at some Costco stores. Costco has been continuing to sell GSG100 models for a while now, but maybe not for much longer.

Along with Tough Solar power and mud-resistant buttons, the beefy GSG100-1A8 has the Neon Illuminator with a blacklight LED light for enhanced viewing in the dark, which is unusual for a G-Shock. In addition to charging up the Neobrite lume on the hands and tips of the hour markers better than a normal LED light, the Neon Illuminator also lights up six of the hour markers when activated, and there is also a backlight for the LCD display, as seen in this video at youtube.com around the 1:00 mark. Unlike other Mudmaster models, the GSG100 does not have any sensors such as the compass. The GSG100-1A8 measures 56.2 x 54.9 x 17.3 mm and weighs 88 grams.

The GSG100-1A8 originally had a price of around $330 in the U.S., so this is a good deal, but there may be concerns about the battery health because the series was originally released in 2018. Although the rechargeable batteries in Tough Solar watches are expected to last over ten years if kept fully charged, they may degrade faster if the watch is not kept charged regularly and the battery is often depleted.

We previously reported that Costco was selling the GSG100-1A in April. That model is no longer available online, and someone recently posted on reddit.com about buying it at a further discount in a Costco store for $139.97, so it looks like that model is on the way out, and the GSG100-1A8 could be too.

The GWG-100-1A8JF (which is mostly the same but with the addition of Multi-Band 6 automatic radio time adjustment) is still an active model in Japan with a price of 59,400 yen (around $377, but it can be found for around $300).
