Here’s a roundup of G-Shock and Casio-related news for early December 2024, including some new releases announced in Japan.
Popular December Releases
Pre-orders for the DW-5000R-1AJF “First Model Revival” sold out within the first day in Japan at Casio.com and have been selling out at other Japanese retailers.
Casio is selling the G-Shock-shaped CRW-001-1JR digital ring watch in Japan by lottery sales, as the demand is expected to be very high. If not sold by lottery sales in other countries, we expect it to sell out quickly. You might want to start checking your country’s Casio.com site daily and sign up for notifications. We also suggest registering for a Casio ID ahead of time.
The December update for the U.S. dealers price list does not include the DW-5000R-1A. We don’t know if this means that the watch is not coming to the U.S. until January, or if maybe it will be sold only at casio.com/us. Some other December releases for Japan are also not listed for the U.S. yet, such as the RL Series and Virtual Mix series (below), but the GSTB400CX-1A (also below) is listed for $380. We also noticed the DWE5600JB1A9 ($230) listed since last month, which we haven’t heard anything about from elsewhere.
Topper Discounts
Topper Fine Jewelers (topperjewelers.com) has some big discounts on some high-end G-Shock models, including some recent ones. These include the MRG-B2100D-1A for $3,360, full analog GMC-B2100D-1A for $600, GMB2100D-1A for $330, Mudmaster GWGB1000-1A for $600, and more.
More December G-Shock Releases in Japan
G-Shock Japan announced the RL Series including four affordable models from its masterpiece lines, the Virtual Mix series with some futuristic models, and the GST-B400CX-1A with an eternal snake theme.
The RL Series includes the DW-5600RL-1 (14,300 yen), DW-6900RL-1 (14,300 yen), GA-110RL-1A (20,350 yen), and GA-2100RL-1A (17,600 yen). These are standard release “JF” models and are not designated as limited editions. The black watches feature red, blue, and yellow accents that are also found on the DW-5000R-1A, which itself is inspired by the first-generation DW-5000C-1A. The DW-5600RL-1 looks a lot like the DW-5000R-1A, but it lacks the retro-shaped bezel and band and the brick pattern background on the face, and it has a resin center case with a stainless steel case back like other modern DW-5600 models.
The Virtual Mix Series includes two battery-powered and Bluetooth-connected models: the analog digital GA-B001MW-8A (22,550 yen) and the GD-B500MW-8 (20,900 yen) with step counter. These light gray watches feature fluorescent yellow-green and translucent resin parts and band keepers. The GA-B001MW-8A also has translucent green hour markers. Also pictured is the non-Bluetooth GA-2300MW-8A, but it is not listed at Casio Japan and may be an ex-Japan model. [Update: The GA-2300MW-8AJF is a January 2025 release in Japan.]
The GST-B400CX-1A with Tough Solar power and Bluetooth smartphone link celebrates The Year of the Snake 2025 and is the first GST-B400 model with a silver bezel and gold hour markers and buttons. According to Casio, a snake pattern is laser-processed on the gold IP buttons, bridge section in the middle of the dial, and the band keeper, and an Ouroboros symbol of immortality is engraved on the case back. This G-STEEL model has a textured black resin band.
Update: G-Shock U.S. released the GSTB400CX-1A on December 10 for $380.
