Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal wear G-Shock watches in ‘Othello’ on Broadway

Academy award winner Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal have been wearing Casio G-Shock watches for their performances in Shakespeare’s Othello on Broadway. Directed by Kenny Leon, Othello stars Washington as the titular character and Gyllenhaal as the vengeful Iago in a modern retelling of the classic play. This version takes place in the year 2028, with Othello being a Marine Corps general and Iago a junior officer.
There are many photos out there of Jake wearing the recent G-Shock GA110TU-1A5 in the play, but not as many clear shots of Denzel’s watch. It appears to be the G-Shock GD100-1B, based on photos from broadwaydirect.com. The GD-100 features a full digital display, auto LED backlight, and approximate 7-year battery life. Denzel Washington is known to be a G-Shock fan in real life, as he was frequently spotted wearing the Mudmaster GGB100-1B at Lakers games and other events. Jake Gyllenhaal previously wore G-Shock watches for military and law enforcement roles in several films, including The Covenant, End of Watch, The Guilty, and Jarhead.

Othello held its opening night on March 23, 2025, at the Barrymore Theatre, with its final performance to take place on June 8, 2025.
