Update: Full specifications for the analog-digital GA-010 and digital GD-010 are available in our Specs Catalog.
As you can see in the comparison chart below, the analog-digital GA-010 (above right) is slightly longer and thicker than the digital GD-010 (above left). Casio classifies these as “Big Case” series. They are similar in size to the GA-100, which is also considered large but not too large. Both have a Carbon Core Guard case and are made with bio-based resins.
The GD-010 has world time and multi time with 4 city settings, while the GA-010 has standard world time. The stopwatches are similar, but the GA-010 also has a target time alert and a one-touch start button from timekeeping mode. The timer on the GA-010 is more limited with a 60-minute maximum and is settable in minutes only. The GA-010 has a single LED light with no LCD display backlight, but the 10-year battery estimate allows for the same operations as the GD-010 (10 seconds of an alarm and 1.5 seconds of the LED light per day), and the GA-010 doesn’t skimp on other functions like hand shift and hourly time signal. The GD-010 has an auto light setting that will activate when the wrist is turned, but the GA-010 does not have the auto function. The light duration is adjustable to 1.5 or 3 seconds. Both series use a CR2025 battery.
We like the clean GA-700-like dial of the GA-010 with a large and positive LCD display, and the GD-010 has larger digits compared to most other digital G-Shock displays. Both series also have a guarded front light button, and the large guarded side buttons are an advantage over the DW-5600 and DW-6900. We appreciate the focus on functionality and value with these series, and the utility-style colors should appeal to people who are looking for an affordable tool watch.
Based on other recent G-Shock prices in Japan and the U.S., we expect the GA-010 models to cost $120 each and the GD-010 models to cost $99 each in the U.S..

A European retailer has two all-new G-Shock series listed for pre-orders, the GA-010 with analog-digital display and the GD-010 with digital display. According to the images, both of these watches feature a 10-year battery. A marketing illustration dubs the design “New Rugged Basic” and highlights a wide face with guard bumpers, a front button guard, and side button guards. The site lists the price of the analog GA-010 models as 119 euros and the digital GD-010 models as 99.9 euros.
There have been other digital display G-Shock watches with a 10-year battery, such as the DW-D5600 and G-2900, but those series don’t appear to be active at the moment. The G-2900, previously the most commonly available 10-year model, appears to be discontinued. While there are other analog Casio watches with a 10-year battery life, this is the first 10-year G-Shock watch with an analog-digital display. Previously, the best battery life for an analog-digital G-Shock was seven years with the GA-900 and AW-500. (This is in terms of non-solar G-Shock watches, as it’s possible for Tough Solar models to operate for ten years.)
The bezel and band are made of bio-based resins, and both series have an LED light. The GA-010 appears to have a single LED light for the dial and not a double LED light with LCD backlight like the GA-2100.
The series are expected to launch in August 2024.
