G-Shock GM-700: Large metal-covered analog-digital watch with stainless steel bezel

G-Shock is launching the metal-covered GM-700 series in September with the introduction of the silver GM-700-1A, gold GM-700G-9A, and purple GM-700P-6A. These models have a stainless steel bezel paired with a resin case and band. The GM-700 is based on the GA-700 series, originally released in 2017, which is notable for its front light button, direct stopwatch start button, and above-average 5-year estimated battery life.

The dimensions of the GM-700 are 58.4 x 53.4 x 18.6 millimeters, and the weight is 111 grams. Unlike the GM-110 which has smaller dimensions (and a different module) than the resin GA-110, the GM-700 is just a bit larger than the GA-700 and is expected to fit the wrist similarly. The GM-700 uses module 5522, which is the same as the GA-700. Other features include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, 1/100-second stopwatch (with target time alarm), countdown timer (1 to 60 minutes), 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze, LED light with 1.5 or 3-seconds duration, full auto-calendar, and hand shift.

In Japan, the GM-700-1AJF has a tax-included price of 30,250 yen, and the ion plated GM-700G-9AJF and GM-700P-6AJF have a tax-included price of 34,650 yen each. Although the three launch models were reported to be limited editions, the Japanese model names (ending in “JF”) do not indicate that these are limited editions, but as with all G-Shock releases, there is no guarantee as to how long they will stay in production. An international release is also expected, with regional prices to be announced.

Update: G-Shock U.S. is releasing the GM700-1A for $200 and the GM700G-9A and GM700P-6A for $240 each. They will be released on September 12, according to a press release.
