G-Shock GMW-B5000 Full Metal Square: All Models Released

Arriving for G-Shock’s 35th anniversary in 2018, the full metal GMW-B5000 series was one of G-Shock’s most successful lines of the 2010s. Modeled after the original G-Shock DW-5000 “square” case, these models have a stainless steel (or titanium) exterior and interior case, a DLC-coated screw-lock case back, an advanced Bluetooth-connected module with Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6, and a high-contrast STN LCD display.
There is a good amount of GMW-B5000 models to choose from, and the series shows no signs of slowing down. We’ve compiled a list of all the different models released so far, with new models added at the top. (The release dates are those of Japan, and the list prices are those of the U.S. The list prices are the original list prices, some of which were raised in 2020. All models are stainless steel unless otherwise mentioned.)

GMW-B5000MB-1 - Multi-finish matte black ion plating with exposed silver front bezel. March 2022, list price $600.
GMW-B5000TVA-1 - "Titanium Virtual Armor" mecha-inspired limited edition with titanium build, DLC, and IP. With laser-etched labels, cutaway bezel sections revealing the red resin cushioning, and band dimples that are full holes. October 2021, list price $1,650.
GMW-B5000-PB6 - "Tokyo Twilight" edition with purple IP and purple and blue-gray band links. September 2021, list price $600.

GMW-B5000TCM-1 Limited edition. November 2019, list price $1,600.
Titanium build with DLC, sapphire crystal, digital camouflage pattern, inverted LCD display. This colorway is also on the MTG-B1000DCM-1A. EOP
GMW-B5000TB-1 - Limited edition. November 2019, list price $1,550. Titanium parts for the bezel, band, inner case, case back, and buttons. DLC coating on the bezel and band. Sapphire crystal. Same color scheme as the DW-5000C-1B from 1983 (one of the two original G-Shock models). EOP

DLC-coated bezel and band, 35th Anniversary case back. Same color scheme as the original G-Shock DW-5000C-1A from 1983. Included a Porter bag carrying case. Released in extremely limited quantities outside of Asia.
GMW-B5000TFG-9 - 35th Anniversary limited edition. April 2018, list price $600. Gold IP bezel and band, 35th Anniversary case back. Unlike the later GMW-B5000GD-9 with gold IP, this anniversary model has a smooth bezel finish (not brushed) and a standard (non-inverted) LCD display). EOP
GMW-B5000D-1 - April 2018, list price $500. Silver stainless steel bezel and band. A classic-in-the-making and the bestselling GMW-B5000 model.

While I love the looks of these full metal G-Shock series, I couldn’t justify the price differentiation with its little brother, such as GW-B5600, in terms of features. The only differences between the two are the display, case, and bracelet, although their price difference 3-5 times depends on where did you make a purchase.
Still, if the full metal does offer a sapphire crystal instead of a mineral glass, it would be considered a much more justified for the price.

Yes, if they are discontinued and not available from the usual retailers, the price will usually be higher on eBay.
