Casio America announced an official partnership between G-Shock and Major League Soccer team New York City FC (a.k.a. New York City Football Club). A sweepstakes will be held for free tickets to a match against the Tudor-partnered Inter Miami CF (featuring Lionel Messi) and Pre-Match On-Field Warmup Passes, with full details coming on G-Shock U.S. and New York City FC social media and the New York City FC mobile app. The Miami match is on September 22 at Yankee Stadium.
There was no limited edition timepiece announced for the partnership, but we’ll hopefully see one in the future, as such collaborations are commonly released with Japanese soccer teams, and the team’s colors of light blue and orange will certainly make for a unique and attractive colorway. The partnership should bring a lot of exposure to the G-Shock brand, which prior to this typically partnered with individual athletes but not entire sports teams in the United States. Casio America announced that the partnership will include on-site marketing and a unique stadium display. New York City FC plays its home matches at Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and Red Bull Arena. The team is building the first soccer-specific stadium in New York City in Willets Point, Queens, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
