G-Shock to launch GBA-950 connected step-counting sports watch with reengineered structure

Casio it set to release the all-new G-Shock GBA-950 series in May 2025, starting in Japan. An evolution of the analog-digital G-SQUAD GBA-800 and GBA-900 series, the GBA-950 has a carbon fiber-reinforced case and is equipped with a step tracker and Bluetooth smartphone link. It offers a smaller size and weight (48.5 x 43.9 x 16 millimeters, 53 grams) than the GBA-900 and uses an integrated band and bezel structure like the GA-B001 and GA-V01. The newly designed band, co-developed by Japanese “folding engineering” company Outsense, offers enhanced comfort with improved flexibility and a reduced lug size. Unlike the GBA-900, the GBA-950 has a front-facing light button.

Another unique exterior feature is that the large resin hour markers are mixed with luminous material and have a top surface printed with luminous material, which is also applied to the hands.

Fitness and sports features include an automatic daily step counter with data transfer and training support with measurement of time, distance, average pace, and calories burned. Like the GBA-900, connecting the watch to a GPS-equipped smartphone while using the step counter will improve its accuracy when it is later used unconnected. Other features are expected to be the same as the GBA-900, including dual time, countdown timer, alarms, and auto double LED light, with an expected battery life of 2 years. Like all current G-Shock watches, the GBA-950 is shock-resistant and water-resistant to 200 meters.

The three debut models include the black GBA-950-1A, purple GBA-950-2A, and white GBA-950-7A, with a tax-included price of 25,300 yen each. (Japan Model Names: GBA-950-1AJF, GBA-950-2AJF, GBA-950-7AJF.) The GBA-950 series is also expected to be released worldwide.
