Following the GLX-5600KI-7, G-Shock and pro surfer Kanoa Igarashi are releasing a second signature collaboration watch with the GBX-100KI-1. The California-born Igarashi recently won the silver medal representing Japan in men’s shortboard at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The watch has a stealth black motif with a speckled pattern on the stainless steel bezel and face. This pattern gives the impression of randomly spread sand and gives the watch a camouflaged appearance, but the pattern is actually made from a photo of Igarashi riding a wave. Igarashi’s signature appears on the face, lower band end, and case back. The lower band also has “50” printed on it, which is Igarashi’s number on the WSL Championship Tour.
The limited edition GBX-100KI-1 is an advanced G-SLIDE GBX-100 surfing model with an MIP LCD display, advanced tide functions with approximately 3,300 locations, moon data, sunrise/sunset time, step counter, vibration alerts, and Bluetooth smartphone link.
The GBX-100KI-1JR is coming in November 2021 to Japan for 28,700 yen (tax included). The GBX-100KI-1 is also expected to be released worldwide (US model: GBX100KI-1, $200).
