In 2021, the Hobonichi Mother Project released the G-Shock GW-M5610UMOT21-1JR, which was an unusual collaboration with the classic Nintendo video game Mother. 2024 will see the release of a second limited edition collaboration to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Mother 2 video game and continues the use of a Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6-equipped base, but this time with the GW-6900. The GW-6900MOT24-4JR will be sold by lottery in Japan for 23,980 yen (tax-included), with the application period running from March 14 to March 25.
Mother 2 was released in 1994 in Japan for the Super NES console and in 1995 in North America as “EarthBound.”
The watch has a red bezel and band with a gold border around the display. The Mother logo is printed on the top of the face, and a “POTENTIAL” label sits below the display. A “SMAAAASH!!” graphic appears on the EL backlight, and the case back is engraved with a black telephone graphic.
The watch is scheduled to be on display at Tobichi Tokyo from February 19 to 27 and March 20 to 24 and at Shinsaibashi Parco 9F Special Venue from March 1 to 17.
