These under-$200 octagonal-metal-analog Casio watches have a sapphire crystal

Don’t have $800 to spare for a full analog G-Shock GMC-B2100? The full stainless steel and octagonal Casio Edifice EFB680D-1AV, a “Standard Chronograph” model, has a retail price of $180 and offers desirable features such as a more scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a screw lock back. The 1/10-second stopwatch measures up to 59’59.9” with elapsed time, split time, and 1st-2nd place times. The dial has the layout of a more traditional chronograph watch (without a dual time subdial doubling as a stopwatch), with three subdials to display 1/10 seconds, minutes, and hours for the chronograph. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, which is still very capable for most water sports. Some of the main drawbacks compared to a G-Shock include the lack of a light and automatic calendar. This watch is not solar-powered, and the SR920SW battery has an approximate running time of three years. The watch measures 48 x 45.8 x 10.5 millimeters and weighs 151 grams.

The EFB680D-1AV is sold out at Casio.com but is currently available discounted from authorized seller The Casio Store at ebay.com for $143.99 (as EFB-680D-1AVCR, not an affiliate link), with five watches remaining. It looks like this model is being discontinued, as it is sold out at official Casio sites and most dealers and is probably not being restocked. The EFB-680D-1AV was originally released in December 2022. In Singapore, the EFB-680D-7AV with white dial and EFB-680D-2BV with purple dial are still available for S$209 each at casio.com/sg.

There is also the EFRS108D-2AV ($170) with a blue dial from October 2023, which is a basic “3-Hand Analog” watch with a sapphire crystal and a smaller octagonal bezel without any labels or markings on it. It does not have a screw-back but is also water-resistant to 100 meters. This model is closer in size to traditional watch dimensions and is very thin and light at 44.8 x 39.9 x 7.8 millimeters and 110 grams. In Asia, the EFR-S108D is also available with a black, blue, green, or white dial, but the models with blue and turquoise blue dials are currently sold out at Casio Singapore. The turquoise blue dial is also available in the U.S.
