A big thank you goes out to G-Central visitor Andrew for sharing these photos of Royal Protection officers wearing G-Shock GM-B2100 watches in the line of duty. Andrew recently spotted them near Windsor Castle and noticed that they were all wearing the same G-Shock model. The officers were kind enough to let him take some photos of the watches, which were all customized with an “X1V” engraving on the band and a United Kingdom flag engraving on the clasp. One of them even took it off his wrist to display the custom case back, which appears to be adorned with an engraving of the Round Tower at Windsor Castle and custom text. This is the first time we’ve heard about a group of Royal Protection officers all wearing the same customized G-Shock watch, and we certainly weren’t expecting it to be the full metal GM-B2100BD-1A, which has a retail price of £499 in the U.K.
(We’re speculating that the “X1V” could be a reference to the SO14 Royalty Protection Group, which is a special operations component of the Metropolitan Police Service Protection Command that is responsible for guarding the Royal Family and members of visiting European royal families.)
The GM-B2100 is a made-in-Japan series featuring a stainless steel screw-back case, Tough Solar power, Bluetooth smartphone link, and double LED light.
